the gupta empire
Hola como estas? After the Mauryan empire fell in about 187 B.C.E different Indian kingdoms fought for power for 500 years until the Guptas finally won. The first king of the Gupta dynasty was Chandragupta. He and his family united all the northern kingdoms by either conquering them or setting up marriages with other kings. at the height of their power they had ruled over most of northern India. The Gupta dynasty ruled from 320 to 550 B.C.E. Over their rule India was very peaceful. Many historians called this age of Indian history the golden age. They called it this because there were many advances in learning and many beautiful sculptures and buildings made during this time. Also many colleges were made like the 1 in Nalanda. India under the Gupta's rule also advanced very much in literature and and science. What aloud the Guptas to rule for so long was their strategy. Very much like the Mauryan empire they had set up a central government to oversee the empire. A council would help the king make important decisions. Unlike the Mauryas the Guptas gave the villages lots of independence. They split up the empire by putting them into provinces. The provinces were ruled by a royal governor but town leaders could make their own decisions without the government caring. This strategy helped them rule for about 230 years.
